Its construction without traditional neoprene combines 85% Yulex® natural rubber with 15% synthetic rubber. With its lining in NetPlus® recycled nylon, its U-zip entry system and sealed seams, it offers an excellent balance of thermal insulation, stretch and freedom of movement to keep surfing in the heart of winter.

A 5/4/3 wetsuit designed for winter surfing

The Patagonia Regulator® 5/4 Hooded is designed for surfers who refuse to put their board away when temperatures drop. Its zoned thickness boosts insulation where it's needed most while maintaining mobility.

The 5 mm body maximizes thermal protection around the torso. The 4 mm sleeves provide extra stretch to make paddling easier, while the 3 mm integrated hood protects the head from cold and wind without feeling too stiff.

This construction makes it a wetsuit particularly suited to winter sessions in water between 7 and 13°C.

Yulex® natural rubber: performance without traditional neoprene

At the heart of this wetsuit is a stretch material composed of 85% Yulex® natural rubber and 15% chlorine-free synthetic rubber.

The natural rubber used comes from sources certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) by Preferred by Nature™.

This design does away with traditional neoprene while retaining the essential qualities of a winter surf wetsuit: insulation, stretch, durability and comfort.

NetPlus® thermal lining in recycled nylon

Patagonia uses post-consumer recycled NetPlus® nylon made from recycled fishing nets for the inner and outer materials of this wetsuit.

The sleeves and legs benefit from an ultra-stretch recycled NetPlus® nylon jersey, while the chest, back and hood feature a thermal microgrid lining to enhance comfort in key areas.

The materials are also solution-dyed, a dyeing process that requires no water.

U-Zip to limit water entry

The exclusive system U-Zip, originally created by AXXE Wetsuits then perfected by Patagonia, was developed to make the wetsuit easier to put on while reducing water entry.

It features a YKK® size 5 stretch coil zip, flexible enough to move with your upper body. Its large pull tab also makes the zip easy to handle, even in cool conditions.

Sealed seams and technical finishes

To retain heat during a long session, limiting water flow inside the wetsuit is essential.

The Regulator® seams are therefore invisible, reinforced with three glue dots, then sealed on the inside with a stretch tape. The linings are laminated with a water-based, solvent-free AquaA® glue.

External rubber cuffs at the wrists and ankles improve the fit while protecting these areas when putting on and taking off the wetsuit.
